Six of Ireland’s best-known chefs traveled to the United States this St. Patrick’s Day season to showcase New Irish Cuisine, an innovative style of Irish cooking which is making Ireland a fashionable hotspot in culinary circles.
The Irish delegation, representing Ireland’s four provinces, included Kevin Dundon, Dunbrody House hotel and Cookery School in Wexford; Darina Alien, Ballymaloe House and Cookery School in Cork: Richard Hart. Glenlo Abbey hotel, Galway; David McCann, Dromoland Castle, County Clare; Neven Maguire, MacNean’s Bistro. County Cavan: and Noel McMeel of Castle Leslie in County Monaghan.
The culinary tour in Boston and New York City was developed by Tourism Ireland and the Boston Irish Tourism Association as a way to promote travel to Ireland while introducing a sophisticated slant on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in America. Other sponsors included American Airlines and Tourism Massachusetts.
The 8.3% holiday season increase was more than double the 3.5% average holiday increase over the previous five years.
“Faced with rising transmission of the virus, state restrictions on retailers and heightened political and economic uncertainty, consumers chose to spend on gifts that lifted the spirits of their families and friends and provided a sense of normalcy given the challenging year,” Mr. Shay continued.

Industry ask A National Retail Policy seeking alignment between sectoral policies and regulations
Retail sector is governed by multiple laws and regulations, including economic and product specific regulations like FSSA, legal metrology, Drugs and cosmetics etc. Further, there are disparities in interpretation and implementation at all levels of the government. Thus, the proposed National Retail Policy needs to focus on the aspect of harmonising the regulations impacting the sector, facilitating ease of doing business.
New Delhi: Ahead of the upcoming union Budget, retailers' body RAI on Friday urged the government for formulation and implementation of national retail policy and let retailers to register under MSMEs to get benefits, saying the industry needs support after almost being squashed during the coronavirus pandemic.
